about us

Reading one of my books is like floating down a picturesque river on a summer afternoon anticipating what’s around the next bend.

Hello! I'm Lorrie Grosfield a former school teacher for 25 years and a lifelong writer. I've spent the last four years writing an inspirational novel based on a true story about a young girl struggling with breathing problems, anxiety, and rejection. I also have two upcoming picture books.
I grew up in Galesburg, IL and was an artist for my school newspaper. In 2004 , I won an award for Honorable Mention in Magazine Writing at the Mississippi Valley Authors' Conference. I've published three magazine articles and written several children's books and plays.

Why would a young woman born in the 1870's tear her head off of her wedding photo?

My Goals

My goals are to keep the reader turning the page and wanting to know more. To create a mix of entertainment with a splash of education in these inspirational stories that I’m sharing.

These last four years I’ve strived to write this story with all the truth I can. I’ve researched, walked, driven and imagined floating the miles of creek of The Nutshell Legacy’s setting in order to portray the story as close to what happened as possible. At the same time to make my cast of characters believable with an exciting ending.
